An eco-responsible park
Welcoming the public and more than 100 species into a covered, climate-controlled space requires a great deal of energy. We have chosen to generate a large part of it ourselves, cleanly.
- 180 solar panels, coupled with storage batteries, installed on site. In 2025, they produced nearly 79 MWh and covered almost half of our electricity consumption.
- Less CO₂: this output avoids the equivalent of around 57 tonnes of CO₂ per year, or more than 110 tonnes since installation (Enphase / EPA estimate).
- Daily waste sorting.
- Composting (autumn 2026): composting bins will be deployed in September–October 2026 to turn part of our waste into compost, reused on site.
- A consistent food offer (Snake Bar): plant-based cuisine served in recyclable and/or compostable packaging.
- A low-footprint website: even our website is hosted on servers powered 100% by green energy.
Our food offer: no animals on the plate
When your life is devoted to protecting animals, serving them on a plate makes no sense. Our catering is therefore built around plant-based cuisine, served in recyclable and/or compostable packaging. It is also a genuine gesture for the planet: a plant-based meal emits on average 5 to 6 times less CO₂ than a meat-based one, and uses far less water and agricultural land.

Breeding to preserve
At Reptiland, births are not a commercial venture. Every year, reptiles are born at the park — and everything is given away, free of charge:
- to other zoological parks to strengthen their populations;
- to conservation programmes for endangered species;
- to recognised breeders who comply with current legislation (for genetic enrichment purposes).
This is our way of contributing to the preservation of species, and of fighting, at our own scale, against collection from the wild.
A refuge for animals
Reptiland is a recognised reception centre. We take in animals that have nowhere else to go:
- animals seized by the authorities (Customs, OFB / former ONCFS, veterinary services);
- surrenders from private owners overwhelmed by an exotic animal;
- donations from organisations or owners.
Many of our residents have a story. Providing them with an appropriate, long-term environment is part of our mission.
Committed to biodiversity
Our commitment extends beyond the park's walls.
- We are members of the AFdPZ (French Association of Zoological Parks) and take part in the conservation programmes led by the association.
- We train firefighters to respond to incidents involving reptiles, for everyone's safety: sessions organised on request, generally one to three times a year.
- We support Le Refuge des Écailles, which takes in reptiles in distress.
